ABOUT THE ARTIST

Nancy Beauchamp
Nancy always wanted to be an artist, even at five years old. She attended Principia College in Elsah, Illinois and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, both Studio and Art History. The highlight of her art studies was a European trip to study art, architecture, and sculpture.
She served on the Arkansas Arts Council board of directors for two 4-year terms, appointed by Governor Mike Huckabee. And she is currently a member of the Winnsboro Center for the Arts board of directors.
Pastels are her medium of choice in landscapes, still life’s and animal portraits. Some of the workshops she has attended were with Terry Ludwig, Doug Dawson, Charles Peer, Teresa Saia, and Alain Picard. And she has been blessed with numerous awards in art competitions. Nancy teaches workshops and weekly classes in pastels. She also teaches watercolor workshops and lessons at Winnsboro Center for the Arts and is currently exhibiting at Rose City Art Gallery in Tyler, Texas.
Her inspiration comes from her countryside surroundings just outside of Winnsboro, Texas, where she lives with her five dogs.
Artist’s Statement: “Artists express their feelings through their work. I am no exception. I paint what is on my heart and I feel this is represented by the deep values and intense colors used in most of my paintings. Too much of a good thing can be repetitious. I enjoy painting a variety of genres, so my subject matter rotates. Humor is often evident in my work. There’s a story behind every one of my paintings, but it’s not always my story. What story do you see?”
